Applications
are invited for Trust Doctor (TD) positions within the Specialty and
Integrated Medicine Clinical Service Unit (CSU) at St Jamess University
Hospital (SJUH), Leeds. They are ideally suited to junior doctors who have
completed Foundation Training but have yet to decide their chosen career
pathway or who are not yet ready to enter a formal training scheme.
Our
TD posts, which are fixed-term for 6-months from 6th August 2025, are
designed to provide a wide range of clinical experience in Acute, General,
and Elderly Medicine. Successful applicants will be given an opportunity to
work within our Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) service, on our Acute Medical
Units, and on our in-patient Specialty Wards. Excellent training will
therefore be provided in the management of acutely unwell and deteriorating
patients, Comprehensive Geriatric Assessment, rehabilitation, multidisciplinary
teamworking, and discharge planning.
Each
Trust Doctor will be allocated a named Educational Supervisor. Opportunities
will be provided to join our audit, quality improvement, and clinical
governance programme. There are excellent training facilities at SJUH and,
across the CSU, educational meetings are held on most days of the week.

Main duties of the job
You
will join the Specialty and Integrated Medicine (SIM) and Urgent Care
Clinical Service Units (CSUs) at St Jamess University Hospital (SJUH) which
together cover Acute Internal Medicine, General Internal Medicine, Elderly
Medicine, Diabetes & Endocrinology, and Infectious Diseases & Travel
Medicine. Although postholders will undertake most of their clinical duties
within their allocated parent specialty, they may be asked to contribute to
the care of patients in all these areas from time-to-time.
Postholders
will contribute to all aspects of the Specialty and Integrated Medicine
service. We expect a particular focus on:

The
ideal applicants for these positions will therefore be able to demonstrate
excellent clinical, interpersonal and communication skills. They will be able
to work cooperatively with colleagues across our multidisciplinary teams,
managing their time effectively. The successful applicants will be committed
to providing expert medical care, including discharge planning, in patients
presenting with a wide range of acute and chronic conditions.
Post-holders
will be asked to contribute to an out-of-hours rota providing cover for SDEC
and medical admissions, as well as our in-patient wards.
