Locum Consultant in Paediatric Cardiology

Job summary

We are looking for a dynamic individual to join the congenital cardiology team based at Leeds General Infirmary (LGI) as a locum paediatric cardiologist with an interest in echocardiography.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will contribute to the delivery of the general paediatric cardiology service. The main focus of the post is the delivery of outpatient care in both Leeds and peripheral clinics throughout the region. In addition, the successful candidate will contribute to the delivery of the paediatric echocardiography service in Leeds

The post holder will join the general paediatric cardiology on-call rota compromising ward weeks and evening on-calls on a 1:11 basis. They will attend the weekly MDT and monthly governance meetings.

Involvement in service development, quality improvement, education and research will be encouraged.

Qualifications

Essential

  • MRCPCH/MRCP or equivalent qualification.
  • CCT in paediatric cardiology by the start date.
  • Successful completion of subspecialty training in paediatric echocardiography.

Desirable

  • Relevant higher degree.

Clinical, Academic, and Personal Skills

Essential

  • Experience in training undergraduate medical students and postgraduate doctors.
  • Well organised and skilled in good time management.
  • Effective interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrate ability to relate to and work within a team.

Eligibility, Fitness to practice, and Language Skills

Essential

  • Eligible for full registration with the GMC at time of appointment and hold a current licence to practice.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK.
  • Is up to date and fit to practise safely.

Additional Requirements

  • Experience of participation in quality improvement activity (essential).

Clinical Experience and Career Progression

  • Must be able to demonstrate a high level of clinical experience and competence in paediatric cardiology.
