Locum Consultant in Medical Oncology

Job summary

This is a 6-month Medical Oncology Locum Consultant post with special interests in Lung and Gynaecological cancers, delivering systemic anti-cancer therapies, with the possibility to extend further. The post will support two established and experienced non-surgical oncology teams and will be based at the Leeds Cancer Centre, St Jamess University Hospital.

There will be opportunities to contribute to the MDT and departmental meetings, as well as teaching and service developments. This is an exciting time to join our Lung and Gynaecology Services, as we are currently looking at pathway redesign, alongside developing the services and the teams.

Main duties of the job

MAIN DUTIES OF THE POST

Attendance at lung and gynaecology clinics

Attendance at MDT meetings

Participate in ward rounds and the on-call rota

Prescription of systemic and hormone therapy.

Discussion with patients and their relatives

Initiation / change of treatments

Manage patients receiving treatment for lung and gynaecological cancer

Attendance at service and departmental meetings.

Work closely with clinical colleagues and support the wider lung and gynae teams with clinical activity. Provide mutual cross-cover colleagues where necessary.

Applicants should have established skills in medical oncology. Excellent communication and team working skills, a strong commitment to teaching and service development are essential.
