We are inviting applications to fill our (ST6-8+ level) vacancy at The Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust in Department of Neurosurgery.
We are looking for 1 dynamic individual to meet the demands of this post.
The Department of Neurosurgery in Leeds provides World-Class adult Neurosurgical Oncology and Skull Base Surgery. The service is consultant-led and delivered through dedicated sub-speciality services.
The fellowship is designed for Neurosurgical Clinicians TOWARDS THE END OF UK TRAINING and will provide all aspects of sub-speciality training in Skull Base Surgery in preparation for a consultant role subspecialising in this field.
The fellow will be fully immersed in the Skull Base Surgery Service.
The Skull Base Surgery fellowship will include a thorough grounding in Pituitary and Endoscopic skull base surgery.
Fellowship approval has been received from The Royal College of Surgeons of England and Neurosurgery Speciality Association.

This post is fixed term for 1 year and will commence from August /September 2025.
Main duties of the job
The post will provide training to specialist post CCT level in all aspects of endoscopic anterior skull base surgery, concentrating on pituitary disease but also chordoma and chondrosarcoma, craniopharyngioma, and rare tumours such as olfactory neuroblastoma. As well as the neurosurgical aspects the successful candidate will achieve competences in the endocrine management of pituitary disease and Rhinology where relevant.
The post will provide excellent preparation for independent practice.
Consideration will be given to applicants who wish to work full or part time and those wishing to job share.
The successful applicant will be expected to contribute to the on call rota and have experience of having done so in the recent past.
Applicants must have full registration with, and hold a current licence to practice from the GMC, at the time of application, be eligible to work in the UK and have previous UK NHS experience.
DUTIES OF THE POST
The fellow will become immersed in the Pituitary service in all its aspects in preparation for independent practice. A thorough grounding in Pituitary and Endoscopic skull base management will be provided, - both operative and non-operative. A curriculum will be discussed at the initial learning agreement.
About us
The Department of Neurosurgery provides a comprehensive neurosurgical service to the 2.5 million people of West and North Yorkshire. The Neurosurgical Department is at The Leeds General Infirmary at Leeds part of Leeds Teaching Hospitals. There is a Major Trauma Centre with helicopter at this site. This is an amalgamation of the previous separate units at the Leeds Infirmary and the Pinderfields General Hospital, Wakefield.
The centralised Neurosurgical Department has approximately 65 adult beds with a 7-bedded dedicated Neuro-intensive Care Unit as well as an 8 bedded High Dependency Unit. There are 3 operating theatres, 1 dedicated to emergency surgery 24 hours per day. There are separate beds and intensive care facilities for Paediatric Neurology and Neurosurgery.
The Neurosurgical Department has close links with the other neurosciences, particularly the Department of Neuro-Radiology where there is high expertise in imaging.
