DUTIES OF THE POST

To ensure high quality and safe care of Orthopaedic patients resulting in excellent clinical outcomes.

To contribute directly to patient care by, for example, reviewing patients, organising investigations and acting on results, initiating and changing treatment, and speaking to patients and their relatives/carers about their illness and clinical progress.

To undertake essential administrative duties, including prescribing, writing electronic discharge letters, and liaising with colleagues in primary care.

To contribute to a multidisciplinary approach to patient care, working collaboratively with a large team of allied healthcare professionals, including the Early Discharge Assessment Team, specialist nurses and physiotherapists.

LEVELS OF RESPONSIBILITY

The post-holder will be expected to work at the level of a Foundation Year 2 doctor. They will have access to supervision and support from a Consultant at all times

Clinical Experience and Career Progression

Essential

• Evidence of achievement of foundation competencies, in line with GMC standards / Good Medical Practice - Please refer to Person Specification to complete this section fully
• Evidence of achievement of FY2 competencies in medicine or Surgery (as defined by the curricula relating to Core Medical training or Core Surgical Training)

Desirable

• Experience within the NHS in General and/or Elderly Medicine.
• Ability to provide complete details of employment history

Qualifications

Essential

• MBBS or equivalent medical qualification.
• Successful completion of Foundation training (or equivalent)

• Be eligibl for full registration with, and hold a current licence to practise from, the GMC at intended start date & be eligible to work in the UK
