Job summary
The
post involves working on the stroke unit at Leeds General infirmary,
participating in ward rounds, reviewing hyperacute and acute patients, and
patients undergoing stroke rehab. The post holder would also be expected to
participate in TIA clinics and stroke follow up clinics, as well as assisting
in reviewing referrals made to the stroke department. There is no on-call component to this post.
There
will be opportunities for the successful candidate to become involved in
teaching and training, both at an undergraduate and postgraduate level and to
contribute to clinical governance. The successful candidate would also be
expected to participate in departmental audit and quality improvement work.
Self directed training time is included in the rota for this post, and the
doctor will also be invited to join the education programme within the
department.
This
post will be based at the Leeds General Infirmary.

Trust is one of the largest in the UK providing high quality acute hospital

regional center for a number of specialist services such as cancer, cardiac and
neurosurgery, treating about one million people per year.
Leeds
General Infirmary houses a 10-bedded Hyperacute Stroke Unit (HASU) and a
further 22 bedded Acute Stroke Unit (ASU), both located on ward L21. The
service offers thrombolysis treatment as well as mechanical thrombectomy to the
West Yorkshire region. Patients are looked after by a team of Stroke and
Neurology consultants with a broad range of experience and specialist
interests. A TIA clinic is operated on a
daily basis, as well as follow up clinics for discharged patients.
