INFORMATION ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT
The Leeds General Infirmary is a large tertiary cardiology centre with all the facilities which would be expected in such a centre. Our ACHD patients are housed alongside general adult cardiology and cardiac surgery patients in a general cardiology / cardiac surgery ward equipped with telemetry facilities and 4 x Level 2 High dependency beds. In addition, there is an 18 bedded acute cardiology admissions ward, a ten bedded acute cardiac care unit, and a day case facility with 22 beds and 6 chairs. Our cardiac surgical patients are housed in the adult cardiac intensive care unit with up to 18 beds.
Main duties of the job
The candidate will be expected to participate in the CMR rota for our clinical lists that will encompass both paediatric and adult CHD patients. They will be also expected to help in the preparation for our weekly MDT and participate actively in the review of the scans with our clinical team.
Depending on the candidate career profile and wishes, opportunities to join the clinical department activity (ward rounds, outpatient clinics) or exposure to other imaging modalities (TOE) will be considered.
The department is also heavily involved in 3D modelling and use of VR/AR to assist in the preparation of complex cases. Depending on the candidate proficiency, including technical skills, there will be opportunities for the successful candidate to receive training in this area and participate actively.
