Applications are invited for a Clinical Research Fellowship available from March 2024 in the Department of Hepatology at St Jamess University Hospital in Leeds.
This is an exciting opportunity to train in one of the leading UK hepatology centres and contribute to the Leeds Liver Units international reputation for transplantation. The successful candidate will have a research project in hepatology and have the opportunity to gain experience in clinical hepatology. The fellow will join the out of hours rota with equal participation to other trainees and deliver 2 clinical sessions/week. Research time of 0.4 FTE will be provided. It is suitable for all higher stages of training including out-of-programme training and post-CCT training. Candidates must hold full MRCP or equivalent and be wanting to pursue a career in gastroenterology and ideally, hepatology.
The Department is affiliated to the University of Leeds with the MRC funded Centre for Bioinformatics, the Leeds Institute of Data Analysis and the NIHR funded Diagnostic Evaluation Co-operative.
Candidates should hold full licence to practice with the UK General Medical Council, have experience in gastroenterology or hepatology and be a member of one of the UKs Royal Colleges of Physicians.

Main duties of the job
The Department of Hepatology forms part of the Leeds Liver Unit and delivers level 2 and 3 liver disease services across a large population within the North of England, including liver transplantation, acute liver failure and complex hepatology services, viral hepatitis services and a broad range of hepatology outpatient services.
The Department is affiliated to the University of Leeds with the MRC funded Centre for Bioinformatics, the Leeds Institute of Data Analysis and the NIHR funded Diagnostic Evaluation Co-operative.
This is an exciting opportunity to train in one of the leading UK hepatology centres and contribute to the Leeds Liver Units international reputation for transplantation. The successful applicant will be supervised by an academic hepatologist (Dr Ian Rowe) and a clinical hepatologist, working in collaboration with the clinical consultant team.
Successful applicants will participate in the developing research programme being run by Dr Ian Rowe, academic hepatologist within the Department of Hepatology. The whole consultant team contribute to the development of the research strategy and depending on the project other clinical collaborators are likely.
The successful candidates will also contribute to the development and delivery of the clinical trials research programme within the Department of Hepatology.
