Job summary
This
is a 10PA locum appointment for a Consultant Paediatric Radiologist. This post
will be available from November 2023 for a period of 12 months.
This
post will deliver 10PAs supporting the Paediatric Radiology (and General
Radiology) team. The post will be based at Leeds Childrens Hospital, Leeds
General Infirmary.
Main duties of the job
The
successful applicant will be expected to provide a high quality service in
paediatric MRI, CT, ultrasound, fluoroscopy and plain film reporting as well as
participating with the dedicated paediatric radiology on call rota. A sub
specialist interest in paediatric musculoskeletal radiology would be encouraged
but other subspecialist interests would also be considered.
The
Paediatric Radiology Team are part of one of the largest Radiology Clinical
Services Units and Radiology Training schemes in the country, with the
Radiology Academy being one of only 3 within the UK. The appointee will also be
expected to actively participate in Academy teaching, Radiology training and
departmental Audit. We would also actively encourage participation within

The

service (including to deliver acute on call (currently 1 in 7.75). Subspecialty
interest/experience in paediatric musculoskeletal radiology is desirable. The appointee will also support the adult CT
team (0.5PA).
Paediatric
Radiology Services are predominately delivered from a dedicated Childrens
Imaging department within the Childrens Hospital in Clarendon Wing. The
department is equipped with 2 general X-ray rooms, 3 dedicated paediatric
ultrasound
rooms, 2 mobile ultrasound machines and a fluoroscopy suite. There is a large
multi-station reporting room, 3 quiet reporting rooms and a dedicated
paediatric MDT room with videoconferencing facilities to SJUH, to support
cross-site Adolescent Cancer Services.
Paediatric
MRI is provided within the general MRI department which is sited adjacent to
Paediatric Radiology and within a further dedicated paediatric MR facility
adjacent to theatres for intraoperative MR (3T GE scanner).

- All applicants to have demonstrable skills in written and spoken English adequate to enable effective communication about medical topics with patients and colleagues demonstrated by:-
- Applicants have undertaken undergraduate medical training in English.
- Achieved the minimum score of 7 across all 4 of the following catogaries in the academic Int. English Language Testing System (IELTS) in a single sitting within 24 mths at application
- Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing. (An overall minimum score of 7.5)
- Achieved the minimum Grade B across all 4 of the following categories in the Occupational English Test (OET) in medicine in a single sitting within 24 months at time of application
- Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing. (You must provide your candidate number)
- Eligible for full registration with the GMC at time of appointment and hold a current licence to practice.
- Eligibility to work in the UK.
- Is up to date and fit to practise safely
