Applicants are sought for two 10PA appointments as Fixed Term Specialty Dentists in Paediatric Dentistry. These posts will be available from 1st September 2023. These are 1-year fixed term posts.

Each post will deliver 10PAs supporting the Paediatric Dentistry Team. The post-holder will provide specialised dental care to patients within LDI as directed and supported by the consultant team. There may be opportunities to contribute to the development of the service at LDI.

The posts will be based at the Leeds Dental Institute, but may involve some travel to other LTHT sites.

Applicants should have established skills in Paediatric Dentistry. A commitment to, and experience of undergraduate teaching, and a research interest, are all desirable.

Main duties of the job

Within the 1 year fixed term speciality dentist role the candidate will provide specialised dental care to patients within LDI paediatrics dentistry team as directed and supported by the consultant team.

The key objectives of this post are to support the Specialist service in Paediatric Dentistry based at Leeds Dental Institute to enable local and national waiting time targets to be met. This is particularly focused on the need to have sufficient capacity to ensure patients in are seen in a timely manner.

The SD will be required to participate in the clinical audit of departmental work.

The SD may contribute to the teaching of dental under graduates, hygiene and therapy students, as the need arises.

About us

Leeds Dental Institute (LDI)

The Dental Institute, established on 1 April 1992, integrated the Dental Hospital at Leeds and the University of Leeds, School of Dentistry.

The Dental Hospital is situated on the ground floor of the Worsley Medical and Dental building which also accommodates the Dental School, the Medical School and the University of Leeds Health Sciences Library. It is situated on the southern side of the University campus half a mile from the city centre.

Since 2003, the LDI has been undertaking a period of rapid expansion and transformation. Outreach teaching clinics have been established in Bradford, Leeds and Hull. An ambitious refurbishment of the main LDI clinical areas was completed in 2012. Training of the dental team includes not only Undergraduate and Postgraduate Dental programmes, but also education for Dental Nurses, Dental technicians, Dental hygienists and therapists offering vital team working experience.
