This is an 8PA locum appointment for a Consultant Paediatric Endocrinologist. This post will be available from 1.6.23 for a period of 6 months
The post will be based at the Leeds Childrens Hospital.
The successful applicant should hold accreditation with the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (or equivalent), and should be on the Specialist Register or within six months of being admitted to the Register for trainees if currently in a training programme within the UK, or have references which have been authorised by the Deputy Medical Director and Clinical Director.
Applicants should have established skills in paediatric endocrinology and be able to work independently. Excellent communication and team working skills, a strong commitment to teaching and service development are essential.

Main duties of the job
This
is an 8PA locum appointment for a Consultant Paediatric Endocrinologist but
candidates offering a minimum of 7 PAs will be considered.
The
post will be based at the Leeds Childrens Hospital. The post will deliver 8
PAs and the successful applicant will join 4 other consultants. The post
holder will cover 1 in 3.6 weeks on call for paediatric endocrinology.
About us
The
Department of Paediatric Endocrinology currently comprises 4 consultants and
four specialist nurses. The Endocrinology department provides a tertiary
level service for West, East and North Yorkshire and Humberside. It provides
a comprehensive service at Leeds Childrens Hospital and an extensive
outreach. It has one of the largest footprints of any endocrine department in
terms of population and area covered.

OBJECTIVES OF THE POST
To maintain a high quality regional Paediatric and Adolescent Endocrinology service
To participate in existing research projects and develop further research
To facilitate training in paediatric Endocrinology & Diabetes, including GRID training.
To participate in the weekly joint multidisciplinary meetings with colleagues
To share supervision of patients in the day care unit and the wards
To develop shared-care guidelines and contribute towards the development of managed clinical network across the regions
To link with Consultant colleagues in other relevant site specialist teams within the Childrens Hospital and across the West Yorkshire region
To deliver acute on call telephone advice (1 in 3.6) for consultants within the Trust and across the West Yorkshire region. This includes being present on-site during normal working hours to manage acute issues and being available for telephone advice for out-of-hours cover.
To contribute to research, teaching and new developments within the speciality of paediatric endocrinology. The post holder will be encouraged to facilitate and contribute to the current clinical research programs on going in the department.
