Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity to join our dynamic Undergraduate Medical Education Team to cover a period of maternity leave. Together we organise, teach and support over 1500 Medical and Physician Assistant students on their learning journey to become our doctors and health care professionals of the future

Based at the Undergraduate Hub at St Jamess Hospital your role will predominantly be to organise student clinical placements in the trust and be a first point of contact for student , colleague and stakeholder queries to ensure smooth facilitation of placement and student journey The role requires an interest in digital technologies to support student learning, and in line with this you will have the potential to be included in some innovative digital opportunities within the medical education team.

The role will involve some challenging, complex and sensitive matters, so you should have an excellent understanding of confidentiality and data protection. You will also need excellent communication and organisational skills together with proven problem-solving skills. The role requires you to be reliable, flexible and a motivational team member. You must be a team player with the ability to work autonomously within the scope of the role. Good time management skills are essential to meet often strict and conflicting deadlines.

Main duties of the job

To plan and organise Medical and Physician Assistant student clinical activities within the trust. This involves a broad range of complex activities using a variety of Microsoft packages along with some Trust and University based digital systems. Proficiency, knowledge and understanding of Microsoft Office software including Word, Access, Powerpoint, forms and Excel is essential and a good understanding/passion for developing new and established digital systems would be desirable.

Working with the wider medical education team to organise teaching spaces and sessions using internal digital platforms and booking systems is also key to ensure the smooth running of clinical placements. Maintaining and monitoring the quality of placements and our services through established databases whilst sharing good practice and quality improvements.

You will be the first point of contact for our students, colleagues, stakeholders and service users providing and potentially receiving complex, sensitive or contentious information. Good communication, and an ability to exercise judgement are required to resolve problems within the constraints of the role.

A keen eye for detail and analytical skills is also key for independently analysing qualitative and quantitative student feedback data and communicating areas of development or support to our wider teams

Based predominantly at the Undergraduate Hub at St Jamess hospital you will be part of a dynamic team of medical professionals, leaders, teaching fellows and established administration staff to support medical and PA students through their undergraduate learning journey. The post holder will lead a specific function within the Undergraduate Medical Education Team, supporting and providing a comprehensive administrative service to the Trusts Medical Education portfolio. They will be expected to arrange and plan their own work on a day-to-day basis within the overall demands and priorities of the department.
