This
is a fixed term contract role with an initial contract end date of 31 March
2025 (extension anticipated).
NIHR
has a strategic focus on embedding equality, diversity, and inclusion across
NIHR's research, systems and culture, along with bringing clinical and
applied research to under-served regions and communities with major health
needs.
In
this newly created role, you will lead the strategic development of NIHRs
under-served communities portfolio of work as part of an embedded approach to
research inclusion. You will have the opportunity to work at a national level
to ensure that health inequalities considerations underpin delivery of all
aspects of NIHR business. You will join an experienced and supportive team
that is committed to developing projects and programmes that have impact.
You
will have experience of working in diversity and inclusion at a senior level
and of working strategically across a range of priorities, connecting
agendas, and influencing culture, system, and behaviour change.

Main duties of the job
As
a Research Inclusion Lead (Under-Served Communities), you will:
- Work
with the NIHR Head of Research Inclusion to take a key role in identifying
approaches for and taking responsibility for implementing national strategic
developments relevant to the NIHR under-served communities portfolio.
- Develop
and take responsibility for implementing a national strategic, cross NIHR
approach to data, communications and learning and development for NIHRs
under-served communities work.
- Take
responsibility for scoping the initial resources required to deliver a cross
NIHR approach to under-served communities work (e.g., budget requirements).
- Offer
leadership, advice and support across the NIHR.
- Oversee
the other associated NIHR activities related to our under-served communities
work.
- Provide
expertise across the NIHR, supporting the Department of Health and Social
Care (Science, Research and Evidence directorate) and NIHR Coordinating Centres,
to ensure that health inequalities considerations underpin delivery of all
aspects of NIHR business.

Scope the under-served communities programme of work for the NIHR

Lead on the development and implementation of policies and processes to
manage the under-serviced communities programme of work

Manage the delivery of a substantial portfolio, which will be monitored by a range
of Key Performance Indicators and overseen by the NIHRs Research Inclusion
Programme Board.

As a member of the NIHR Research Inclusion Team, manage the process for
identifying new resources for an ongoing programme.
