Reporting to the Network Development Manager your role will focus on advanced network design and implementation, and providing technical support and guidance to a wide range of stakeholders.

Main duties of the job

You will take responsibility for leading on technical design, applying specialist knowledge to solve complex challenges.

You will work as part of our multi-professional workforce, ensuring a smooth transition to new networking technologies and maintaining reliable LAN/WAN communications.

In collaboration with key stakeholders, you will help identify and implement the most effective solutions by interpreting standards and procedures.

You will be supported to work autonomously in developing new network solutions, enhancing network performance and security.

You will develop effective and valued relationships with clinical and administrative teams, resolving network communication issues promptly.

You will be supported to work within established standards and best practices, contributing to the continuous improvement of network services.

Experience

Essential

  • Experience working in a large LAN/WAN (Local Area Network/Wide Area Network) communications environment.
  • A highly specialised knowledge of TCP/IP (Transmission Control Protocol / Internet Protocol) and experience troubleshooting these protocols.
  • Specialist knowledge of administering, maintaining, configuration and installation of Wide Area routed networks and associated technologies.
  • An advance theoretical knowledge and practical experience of implementing Cisco IOS (Internet Operating System) network operating systems.
  • A thorough knowledge and in depth understanding of standard office applications such as Excel and Word, as well as applications such as Visio.

Desirable

  • Experience gained in a Health environment.
  • Understanding of wider NHS health community.
  • Knowledge of National Systems and initiatives

Additional Requirements

Essential

  • Able to fulfil Occupational Health requirements for the post (with reasonable adjustments if necessary), including clearance on blood borne viruses in compliance with Trust Policy

Qualifications

  • A degree or equivalent in a related subject.
  • Attained CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate) or equivalent Post Graduate Diploma.

Desirable

  • Masters degree in relevant subject
  • Project Management qualification.
