This is an exciting opportunity to join the Leeds Teaching Hospitals Technical Information Team as one of our Data Warehouse Technical Leads.

We are looking for an experienced SQL developer with a passion to make a positive contribution to the business and clinical operation of one of Europes largest teaching hospitals.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will be joining the Digital Information&Solutions service with responsibilities such as:

  • Leading data management, preparation and evaluation.
  • ETL design, conception, development and management.
  • SQL expert for the team and lead during investigations of requirements.
  • Drive efficient delivery of business intelligence solutions and reporting outputs.
  • Contribute to the continued evolution of the Trusts data and reporting solutions.

Working with business analysts and developers, the post holder will be involved in the full development lifecycle from stakeholder engagement; requirement gathering and data model design; meta data and data quality definition capture; database design, development and data model integration; which will lead into data repository solution implementation and deployment.

The team are embarking on an ambitious long-term cloud computing solution, migrating the existing on-premise Data Warehouse and associated reporting outputs to the Microsoft Azure platform, consolidating reporting outputs to be presented using Power BI.This project is an excellent opportunity for the successful candidate to take their current skills and join us as we develop and upskill our existing team in the use of this new technology.

The role reports to a Technical Information Manager who leads a team of passionate data experts responsible for the development and deployment of modern data analytics solutions for the Trust.

About us

Hybrid working is available (home and office working) with the base being St Jamess University Hospital Leeds.

Initial Tenure is 12 months fixed term but would be made permanent after a successful 12-month review.

To assist the provision of technical solutions in the delivery of a Trust Wide Data Warehouse. To ensure a robust reporting strategy is implemented for Leeds Teaching Hospitals. To assist in the provision of an information and analysis service delivering accurate, timely and effectively information tailored to meet specific needs in support of operational requirements

The post holder will work as part of the Data Warehouse team to provide assistance to the Technical Information Managers in delivering a consistent, technical solution for the integration of data from a myriad of clinical information systems.

Assist the Technical Information Managers as required and in co-ordination with other Senior Information Managers, lead a Team of Information Analysts.

Key result areas are patient access, clinical governance, and performance management which support the strategic business plan and the accurate and timely submission of Trust data to the Department of Health, which has a direct bearing on the revenue of the Trust.

The jobholder will assist in the investigation of a range of highly complex IM&T issues and is a professional lead on the delivery of multi-layered solutions to allow the Trust to fulfil its internal and external information gathering and reporting requirements.

Provide technical support required by Trusts commissioning processes. This includes the accurate submissions to Secondary Users Service (SUS) and development of other income dependent data flows, ensuring Trust income is secured.

  • Degree or equivalent level qualification in a numerate/analytical discipline or equivalent industry experience and some amount of experience ideally in an NHS information management role.

  • Staff Management, including objective setting, appraisal and PDPs.
