The Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust is looking for flexible and reliable individuals to work as facilities technicians at Wharfedale Hospital located in Otley.

Youll play a vital part in helping to keep our patients, visitors, and staff safe, by ensuring the highest levels of cleanliness, ensure our patients are well-fed by providing meal services and youll work closely with all teams on site by supporting the delivery of excellent patient care.

- POST ONE: M-F 0700-1130 (22.5 hours) domestic

- POST TWO: S&S 1200-1830 (12 hours) domestic

- POST THREE: S&S 1300-1930 (12 hours) domestic

- POST FOUR: M-F variable shift pattern (37.5hrs) porter

Successful applicants will be invited to an interview assessment centre held on 10th April 2026. The assessment centre will consist of an interview with set questions for the candidates around activities such as cleaning, ward food service, task prioritisation, infection prevention. Details of which may be taken from the attached job description. There will also be a short interactive test where the candidate is asked to take part in a mock patient interaction relating to something likely to be within the role expectation such as asking for directions, or having to complete the meal food order

A full enhanced DBS check will be required

Main duties of the job

The roles will provide cleaning duties (dusting, mopping, cleaning toilets, sinks, patient beds etc) within either wards, departments or public areas, dependant on which role the successful candidates are appointed into. Within ward areas the role is also required to complete full catering services to Patients (after training has been given).

- Ensuring the environment is cleaned to the highest standards.

- Catering duties involve a caring, Patient centred approach to meal & beverage services.

- There will be an expectation to complete ad-hoc duties when required.

Portering role will provide site support in moving stock, stores and equipment as well as patients. Post, medical gas & linen delivery. Waste handling and removal. The ideal candidates will be enthusiastic, good team players and able to work on their own initiative and be able to demonstrate the Leeds Way Values, these being:-
