Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust is seeking an exceptional individual to join our Estates & Facilities Division as a Waste Assurance Officer. This role is integral to maintaining and enhancing the Trusts high standards of waste management across its entire estate.

The post holder will audit and monitor the operation of the Trust-wide Waste Management Strategy in line with current legislative requirements and best practice guidance. Working closely with the Waste Compliance Officer, you will support the design, implementation, management and review of the Trusts Waste Management System to ensure full statutory compliance across all relevant dimensions, including policy, risk assessment, standard operating procedures (SOPs), training, auditing and continuous improvement.

The job package includes: -

A competitive salary pro rata Band 3 £24,937 to £26,59

Annual leave starting at 27 days per annum plus statutory bank holidays rising to 33 days with service.

The main duties of the Waste Assurance Officer include:

Auditing and monitoring the operation of the Trust-wide Waste Management Strategy in line with current legislative requirements.

Undertaking regular planned and unannounced audits across all Trust sites for both clinical and non-clinical waste streams, ensuring timely feedback is provided to audited areas.

Assisting in the monitoring of the quantities and types of waste produced across Trust areas and supporting the development of comparative league tables.

Supporting the effective operation of waste records management systems, ensuring they are robust, accurate and auditable by external agencies when required.

Providing waste compliance advice to Estates, Facilities, Infection Control, Medical and Nursing staff within the scope of the post holders expertise.

Assisting in the production of monthly waste management data, using a range of IT applications to generate reports that inform KPI and performance reporting.

Contributing to the development, implementation, auditing and ongoing monitoring of the Trusts Waste Management and Handling Strategy, ensuring compliance with current legislation and best practice.
