Job summary

Were looking for someone with maintenance experience who is excited to build upon their knowledge, and work with technical staff to directly support the Estates team at the St Jamess University Hospital. This makes a genuine difference in our ability to support patient care and is integral to our services.

As the Estates Maintenance Assistant, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth operation and maintenance of all facilities, plant and equipment throughout the Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust Estate. From supporting colleagues, fault finding, carrying out repairs and installation work, you'll play be essential in ensuring the safety, efficiency, and functionality of our facilities.

The role is intended to provide support for low level maintenance works but is instrumental within the department in providing support to other departments and front linefront-line services. It is often an understated role but is a critical one within our team.

The job package includes: -

A competitive salary £24,938 to £26,598

Annual leave starting at 27 days per annum plus statutory bank holidays rising to 33 days with service.

Main duties of the job

This role provides the following: -

Undertake unsupervised routine/non-routine maintenance and minor repair work.

Portable Appliance Testing, Thermostatic Mixer Valve Testing/Adjusting, Legionella Temperature Checks and Testing/Repair of Nurse Call Handsets subject to appropriate training or experience.

Normal duties will consist of day to day engineering & electrical routine maintenance tasks.

Plan own ongoing maintenance work to ensure completion in a timely manner.

Assist higher grades on new work and repairs.

Utilise the Works Management System for recording, updating/auditing estates records providing plant histories.

Give assistance in carrying out surveys for future maintenance works.

Carry out a range of driving duties on Fork Lift Trucks, Road Vehicles, Hydraulic Lift Platforms subject to appropriate training

Support induction of new starters/apprentices.

Use of relevant tools and equipment.

Demonstrate a basic knowledge of good safety practices.

Deputise for storekeeper.

Carry Trust communication devices to facilitate immediate response to urgent requests and emergency breakdowns

Participate in appropriate shift rotas, subject to appropriate negotiations and agreement, and be prepared to work such hours that may be required in an emergency.

Any other duties as may be reasonably required by line management commensurate with the grades of the post. Respond to switchboard and building management system alarms:eg Fire alarms, lift calls
