The Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust is looking for flexible and reliable individuals to work as Hub Operators based in the Estates & Facilities Control room at St James Hospital in Leeds.

Are you self-motivated and a flexible team player who can follow set processes? Do you have excellent customer service and IT skills and ability to work under strict timescales and pressure. Do you have experience in control room/dispatch or call centre roles?

Permanent full time vacancies ( 37.5 hours per week) are currently available, supporting the 24 hour service provision (including bank holidays)

Shift patterns are flexible but can include 0700-1900 and 1900-0700 rotating on a 4 on/4 off pattern or could be Mon-Fri dependent upon the needs of the service with rosters provided in advance.

The job package includes:-

A competitive salary Band 3 £22,816-24,336 + enhancements for unsocial hours

Annual leave starting at 27 days per annum plus statutory bank holidays rising to 33 days with service.

An excellent contributory pension scheme.

On site car parking

Main duties of the job

The roles provides the following services to the Trust:-

- CCTV operation/monitoring

- Access control

- Alarms response

- Incident recording

- Management of task management system and the control and dispatching of Tasks for Security, portering, cleaning, patient transport, estates etc.

- Internal/external communication with wards/departments, emergency services etc.

- Operation of control room equipment

- Support the supervisory role in the absence of the Co-ordinator

Job description

Job responsibilities

Day to day operation of the Hub Control room to provide support and guidance to Estates & Facilities teams and to assist them to meet the needs of staff, patients, visitors, whilst ensuring the protection of Trust.

Carry out the urgent and non-urgent system checks to ensure that equipment is fully functional and complete the equipment records logs. Keep accurate and detailed logs/records of all repairs and maintenance of the Hub Control room equipment and systems.

Assist the Duty Hub Co-ordinator with the supervision of the deployment of Estates & Facilities staff to ensure that the needs of the each service are met with the regulated and prioritised deployment of various staff - Portering/Cleaning/Security/Estates etc. To ensure the Hub control room, oversees and escalates any urgent traffic management car park management,, roving patrol and vehicle enforcement are met.

Maintain regular radio communication with all staff and ensure that staff follow the correct radio procedures and protocols. In the case of the roving patrol and other staff in lone worker situations, ensure that routine and regular contact is made and recorded to support safe working practices.

Carry out formal documented handover sessions with control room staff at the change of each shift for the purpose of updating on the days activities and briefing on any outstanding or key issues.

Ensure that detailed, accurate and timely records are kept on all incidents and activities using either paper based or computer based systems.

To liaise and respond to requests from colleagues and external agencies when requested to provide information covering recorded material and to view and select information from such material as required all in accordance with the relevant Trust policies and procedures.

To report incidents or potential incidents to the colleagues and external agencies which includes the reporting of issues, crimes and incidents taking place, persons or vehicles acting suspiciously, reporting premises or vehicles affected by crime

The taking of system requests, prioritising the work and appropriate allocation of duties to team members, including the use of IT communication systems.

Provide effective technical support to the Security and Traffic services in a safe and secure environment for staff, patients, visitors and Trust assets.

Ensure that line management are made aware of any serious incidents.

Follow Trust, Directorate and Departmental policies and procedures for booking annual leave, changes to rota and sickness reporting.

Strictly adhere to the Directorates dress code and wear the appropriate uniform/PPE for the duties being carried.

Assist with the production of Emergency out of hours access cards.

Support Security Services with the safe storage and release of Emergency designated keys to ensure safe access and egress in highly restricted areas.

Assist in promoting initiatives for tackling violence and aggression against staff and health care professionals within the Trust (Zero Tolerance initiative), through innovation, education, prevention and detection routes, along with close working relationships with the Police and other external agencies.

Act at all times to strengthen the professional status of the Facilities Hub within the Trust.

Attend staff briefings and keep fully updated with matters affecting the Trust, Directorate and Department by regular reference to bulletins, notices, emails, etc which are displayed on all staff communication notice boards.

Attend all mandatory, refresher and internal training courses.

Deputise for the Hub Co-ordinator when required and inin their absence.
