We are looking for enthusiastic and motivated flexible Decontamination Technicians to join our Endoscopy Decontamination Service. The department provides a decontamination service for all flexible endoscopes used on the St James site and the Leeds General infirmary.
The decontamination team provides a service 7 days a week with shift times based around the needs of the service and its users. The post requires long periods of standing and repetition of tasks as well as attention to detail and the ability to follow prescribed protocols. The service is compliant to JAG and ISO Standards and has an implemented Quality Management System compliant with ISO 13485.
The successful candidate will be able to work as a part of a team in a fast-paced environment which requires multi-tasking and ability to work in a flexible manner to meet the changing needs of the service.
Main duties of the job
The use of automated decontamination equipment including Endoscope Washer Disinfectors as part of the automated decontamination processes employed within the unit
- To work in accordance with departmental policies and procedures in line with the departments Quality Management System
- To undertake the manual clean for flexible endoscopes prior to automated decontamination and communication/escalation of any failures
- To document all daily maintenance of machines and equipment as required
- To ensure all processes are recorded on the electronic tracking and traceability system
- To ensure that all necessary documentation is completed in accordance with departmental protocols
- To carry out and record all Daily/Weekly checks in line with HTM guidance and departmental protocols
Whilst previous knowledge of working within a decontamination service would be an advantage, training can be provided to candidates that can demonstrate an understanding of the decontamination process
