Job summary

Facilities Transport Services are looking to recruit full time Transport drivers to help deliver a friendly, prompt, and professional service on behalf of Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. Principal duties will involve the transportation of waste, staff, goods, around Trust sites and nationally. Applicants must have good communication skills, a good geographical knowledge of Leeds and Nationwide and must be able to work effectively in a service focused environment. There is also a significant manual handling element of bulky items attached to this post, plus other associated tasks. Training will be provided for these. Please be aware the post will require the applicant to work 37.50hrs a week, days, rotational shift patterns, which can include weekends and bank holidays, in a dynamic and fast-moving environment so a flexible working attitude is essential to the role.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will be responsible for undertaking a diverse range of tasks including: To drive any Trust vehicle to undertake any duties relevant for the role. To maintain vehicles in good working order and use it to maximum efficiency. Reporting faults and breakdowns immediately to the Facilities Supervisor. At the start of each shift carry out the appropriate vehicle checks and complete the vehicle record logs. Carry out lock up duties as required. Carry out investigations, take statements and provide written reports regarding breaches of security, incidents, thefts, damage and major traffic/access problems. Challenge individuals in restricted areas who do not have identification and members of staff not wearing ID badges. Assist in promoting initiatives for tackling violence and aggression against staff and health care professionals within the Trust (Zero Tolerance initiative),

Work on rotational shift patterns, which include weekends and bank holidays.

The post holder is member of the facilities operational team and will be responsible for carrying out any duties commensurate with the grade of post. The role includes provision of, patient movement and logistics across any of the Trust sites. The role requires flexibility in approach to the duties required. The principal function of this role is to provide cover on the Trust LGV and PSV servicesas work requirements may alter throughout the course of a workday/week. High standards of quality will be expected to be delivered in line with Facilities/LTHT practices and policies. The post holder will be expected to have basic knowledge of several administrative and operational functions and utilise both facilities and LTHT IT systems to complete their job role. The nature of the role requires the use of responding to some tasks via a defined communication system.

To be a point of contact for patients and other visitors to the Trust and provide a warm friendly welcome offering directions, support, and assistance. Carry out investigations, take statements and provide written reports about breaches of security, incidents, thefts, damage and major traffic/access problems.
