Job summary

The Research and Innovation Department is continuing its exciting expansion. We have several research specialities and the Research Data and Informatics Team (R-DIT) is looking for a Data Manager. This part time post will be based at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.

The post holder will contribute actively to the coordination, and delivery of the R-DIT portfolio, with a focus on the auto-immune dataset being develop through our partnership with Arcturis. The main tasks are:

To work with researchers from across Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, the University of Leeds and other partners to identify datasets required to execute research projects, providing a high quality of customer service.

To work with colleagues in Informatics, Information Governance and Research and Innovation to ensure that all necessary approvals are received for the release of the required datasets.

Main duties of the job

We are looking to recruit a proactive and self-motivated individual with a keen interest in research to work within the Research Data and Informatics Team (R-DIT).

The post-holder will:

Provide timely and accurate information to research collaborators in a format that is readily understood and relevant to the decision making process.

Provide regular briefings to key staff on project pipelines, workloads and any additional resource requirements that may be required to fulfil demand.

Instruct non-information staff in the use of health data, including guidance around its uses, the logic and rules involved and its limitations.

Build and maintain a productive working relationship with colleagues across corporate and operational teams within the Trust and with a wide variety of external stakeholders from academic and industrial backgrounds.

Assist in the development of new bespoke solutions for Information reporting. This involves taking responsibility for decisions on the configuration and development of databases and applications and includes the design and direct testing of new systems e.g. making decisions on the architecture, security and certifications and ensuring that all systems delivered comply with Trust and national data standards, data protection and any other current legislation.

  • Degree or equivalent level qualification in a numerate/analytical discipline or equivalent industry experience and some amount of experience in an information management role

Desirable

  • Evidence of Continuous Professional Development, i.e. specialist IM&T training/study/research, attendance at relevant conferences/workshops
