Job summary
The
Research and Innovation Department is continuing its exciting expansion, and
the radiotherapy research team is looking for a research nurse/midwife/AHP. It
is a part time post (0.5 WTE), with a permanent contract. This post will be
on-site and based at Bexley Wing, St. James University Hospital, Beckett
Street, Leeds, LS9 7TF.
The
post holder will contribute actively to the conduct, coordination, and delivery
of the Radiotherapy Research Portfolio. The main tasks are the recruitment and
management of patients to radiotherapy clinical trials in non-surgical
oncology. The post-holder will ensure that research delivery is in accordance
with Good Clinical Practice Guidelines for Research. The post-holder will
facilitate good quality research in conjunction with the radiotherapy
multidisciplinary team and implement team objectives to enhance team
performance and research delivery. In addition of being responsible for
ensuring that clinical care planning, delivery, safety, and patient
satisfaction are to a very high standards, compliance with Trust policy, study
protocol requirements, local and national guidance and legislation is required

Main duties of the job
We
are looking to recruit a proactive and self-motivated individual with a keen
interest in research to work within the Radiotherapy Research Team. The
post-holder will participate in the implementation of clinical research
undertaken within the radiotherapy department including accurately recording
side-effects and data in a timely manner whilst safeguarding the interest of
patients and complying with trial protocols. The post-holder will also work
with members of the radiotherapy and oncology MDT to co-ordinate the clinical
trial patient pathway from recruitment through to follow-up, ensuring that
trial procedures are communicated effectively to supporting services. The
post-holder will also act as a role-model and point of information and
training needs for the radiotherapy department in the context of radiotherapy
clinical trials. The post-holder will be required to work alongside industry
partners, the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Clinical Research
Network (CRN) Yorkshire and Humber (Y&H) and colleagues in neighbouring
establishments, attending regional and national meetings as required. The
post-holder must ensure that registration with the NMC/HCPC is upheld.
