Job summary
Research and Innovation (R&I) are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic individual to support our research delivery teams across the Trust. This is a full time short term post until the 31st March 2026.
With the introduction of new Performance Indicators (KPIs) aimed at improving study set-up timelines, we are seeking a proactive and motivated individual to join our team. The successful candidate will work closely with key support departments, the R&I Business & Contracts Team, to streamline study set-up processes through to first patient recruited, ensuring appropriate and efficient workflows that support adherence to HRA requirements. You will play a vital role in identifying and removing barriers, enabling R&I to meet ambitious performance targets and deliver high-quality research.
The successful applicant will bring a customer-focused approach, excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to work independently. You will be confident to operate within a matrix management environment and collaborate across multiple teams to help deliver the ambitious R&I targets.

Main duties of the job
You will take responsibility for the overall coordination and data management required to support the set-up of clinical trials, from initial site selection through to full capacity and capability approval. You will work closely with research delivery teams to accelerate study start-up and serve as a key point of contact for Principal Investigators, Research Nurses, and colleagues in Research Facilitation, Contracts and the Business Team.
You will be required to monitor study progress, identify and escalate any barriers to achieving NIHR performance metrics, and contribute to the preparation of performance reports. Through your work, you will play an important part in enabling faster access for patients to participate in new research, improving organisational performance against NIHR metrics, and helping ensure research delivery capacity is shared more equitably across all teams.
