The Research and Innovation Department is continuing its exciting expansion. We have several research specialities and the Heart FailurE/Cardiology research portfolio is looking for a Research Nurse (as per JD title)
This will be a part time post (0.6 WTE),with a fix term contract (3 years in the first instance due to the research grant).This post will be based at the Leeds General Infirmary Clinical Research Facility (CRF).
The post holder will contribute actively to the conduct, coordination, and delivery of the Cardiology Research Portfolio working mainly in the heart failure group. The main tasks are: coordinating recruitment of participants to the British Heart Foundation-funded observational study Cells, Crosstalk and Consequences, managing participant-related activities at the baseline and subsequent visits in collaboration with the administration team and the CRF, undertaking various assessments (blood tests,exercise testing,questionnaires) and entering the data onto the Leeds patient Pathway Manager electronic patient record system. In addition, being responsible for ensuring that high standards of clinical care planning, delivery, safety, and patient satisfaction are maintained at very high standards, compliance with Trust policy, study protocol requirements, local and national guidance and legislation is required

Main duties of the job
Candidate will be required to apply questionnaires, take a patient history, record current medical therapy, take blood samples, undertake basic and (after training) undertake more complex physiology investigations (bioimpedance, spirometry, handgrip assessment) and support other team members during exercise testing, autonomic assessment, echocardiography) and plan subsequent visits.
Prior knowledge of cardiology and/or heart failure would is encouraged but not essential.
We are looking to recruit a proactive and self-motivated, individual with a keen interest in research to work within Cardiovascular team.
The post-holder will work closely with senior colleagues and members of the MDT to deliver high quality clinical care to patients during their participation in both interventional and observational studies. The post will cover both the inpatient and outpatient settings with the caseload varying in size and complexity according to the trial portfolio.
The post holder will be required to work alongside industry partners, the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Clinical Research Network (CRN) Yorkshire and Humber (Y&H) and colleagues in neighbouring establishments, attending regional and national meetings as required.
