Job summary
Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust has been at the forefront of Digital Pathology research and innovation for over 15 years. A £50m initiative from Office for Life Sciences and the Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund has led to the scale-up of the programme to the National Pathology Imaging Co-operative (NPIC). NPIC is now building on that advanced starting position, uniting a consortium of academic, clinical and industry partners with a common vision - to create a world-leading centre for digital pathology and artificial intelligence (AI) on which a UK industrial sector can grow and thrive.
The post-holder will be responsible for the management and delivery of work packages relating to Quality Assurance and Interoperability in Digital Pathology as part of the project. They will be expected to lead on an area of research within the research teams current portfolio, as well as help develop new areas of research in future.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will need experience in research project management, if possible with an education in medical imaging or computing disciplines, but the specific field of science the successful candidate has experience in is not limited, any speciality will be considered with interest.
The post holder will work in a NPIC Research Team focused on Quality Assurance and Interoperability in Digital Pathology. It is an exciting time to be part of this field, many of our current research work packages are trying to understand and define what could become future quality metrics. Our work packages touch on various aspects of colour science, cell science, chemistry, pathology, physics, microscopy, image digitisation and processing including application of computational analysis. Many of our work packages aim to measure and understand the key underlying physical elements of digital pathology across the current landscape in both the UK and across our global collaborations.
