An exciting opportunity has arisen for a registered nurse to join our team.

We are looking for an experienced and dynamic individual to join us in the Bronchoscopy Unit at St James Hospital, with progression to band 6 on completion of the necessary competencies. Under the Annex 21 scheme the successful applicant will undertake a full 12 months supervised and assessed training programme.

The post offers an exciting opportunity to be part of the development of the bronchoscopy unit, specifically but not only with the expansion of the pleural service. The candidate must have significant post graduate experience within an acute Respiratory setting and be willing to gain all relevant competencies. If successful they will have the opportunity to build on past experience, learn new skills and be an integral part of our growing team.

This is a full time post, but part time positions will be considered and rotational posts may be supported with line manager approval.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will be able to manage their own work load and will coordinate and oversee the smooth running of the theatre list. Working along side Respiratory physicians they will take an active role in all procedures, as well as the scheduling and prioritising of our patients in line with the lung cancer pathway.

As the senior nurse within the bronchoscopy unit, the successful candidate must possess excellent communication and organisational skills, champion change and have the passion and enthusiasm to drive the service forward.

Assess, plan, implement and evaluate care and treatments using specialist clinical knowledge and clinical skills.
