Job summary
This is an exciting opportunity to join our Stop Smoking Service here at Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust, and be part of our commitment to reduce health inequalities across local communities and help patients and their families stop smoking.
There are two B4 posts available one full time (1WTE) working Mon to Fri within the inpatient team, and one part time (0.6), working Mon to Wed within the maternity team; there is no weekend work, and both will be based at SJUH. The inpatient role is working daily face to face with patients across a range of wards at SJUH and LGI. The part time role is with our maternity service and includes travel between a range of community venues and patients homes in some areas of Leeds.
This is an initial 5-6-month contract until 31st March 2026 to support the Stop Smoking Service as it transitions toward April 2026. These roles may be extended for a further 12 months 26/27.
The post is not eligible for sponsorship as it does not meet the UKVI salary eligibility.

Main duties of the job
This is a fixed term opportunity to make a real difference to patients lives by providing specialist support to help them stop smoking tobacco. You will work independently with patients face-to-face on hospital wards and face to face and virtually with maternity patients during home visits and in a range of community venues. You will be based at our office at St James's Hospital and required to work from there on a daily basis.
We are looking to recruit two enthusiastic individuals who are passionate about health promotion and supporting patients to become smoke-free. Previous experience in smoking cessation or a health-care would be an advantage. You will contribute to improving health and support patients and their families to stop smoking and develop healthier behaviours.
You will be responsible for the timely delivery of personalised stop smoking support to patients and their families using interventions including: Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT), Vapes, Carbon Monoxide Monitoring and tailored behavioural support. This is a fixed term opportunity and fixed term until 31st March 2026.
