An
exciting opportunity has arisen for a Registered Nurse to join the team on
the 28 bedded Adult Cardiac Surgery/Cardiology Ward. The ward provides pre
and post-operative care for both acute and elective patients undergoing
cardiac surgery and patients admitted to hospital with a broad range of
cardiology conditions.
We
are looking to recruit a a dynamic staff member who will work well as part of
the multi-disciplinary team, maintaining high standards of clinical practice
while supporting staff on a shift by shift basis. The successful applicant
will be able to rise to the challenge of a busy ward environment and possess
the energy and drive required to support the Senior Sister in ensuring the
highest quality care is delivered.
Main duties of the job
The
successful candidate will play an essential role assisting the Senior
Sister/Charge Nurse with the 24 hour
continuing responsibility for the effective and efficient management of the
ward / department. They will
contribute to the provision of professional, clinical, managerial leadership
and supervision for the nursing team.
The jobholder is responsible for helping to develop and maintain a
ward or departments philosophy that has the patient at the centre of
compassionate safe and quality care delivery.
Through assisting with managing the administrative and financial
aspects of the ward, the jobholder will support the cost effective use of
resources.

- Registered Nurse (RN Adult for adult clinical areas or RN Child for childrens areas (Level 1 or 2)
- A post registration qualification related to cardiac surgery / cardiology eg ecg course, deteriorating patients knowledge, diabetes management, infection prevention knowledge
- HOBs nursing skills and competency in all aspects of HOBs care.
Desirable
- Recognised teaching/assessing qualification
- Mental health / wellbeing experience / training
- Leadership skills courses
- Cardiothoracic / cardiology course
Experience

- Significant post registration experience at staff nurse level or equivalent
