Are you a competent administrator ready for a new challenge? Do you want to work in a role that can make a real difference to cancer patients? If you enjoy working in a team and have the drive and passion to help our patients, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a confident, enthusiastic, and motivated individual to work within the Corporate Cancer Team. Your primary responsibilities will be to act as patient advocate to overcome barriers to ensure timely access to any part of the patients cancer journey, minimising any delays to diagnostics and treatment. You will directly communicate with patients and their families to organise appointments, advise on any concerns or queries, and signpost the patient to relevant support. The role plays a vital part in streamlining the patient journey and contributes to the improvement of both quality and experience.

As part of the Corporate Cancer Team, we support and help our cancer teams to deliver quality and timely, patient focused cancer care. We are committed to working in line with the values described in The Leeds Way to make work rewarding as well as challenging.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will have responsibility for providing an effective, caring and compassionate service to patients to optimise their access to cancer services, through working with the multidisciplinary teams within our CSUs. They will liaise with patients and their relatives and ensure appropriate and timely appointments are secured and any additional tests are organised with other departments and booked within agreed timeframes, reports are available, and staging is complete. The post holder will actively participate in Cancer Waiting Times validation and ensure patient tracking procedures are followed and kept up to date within the department. The post-holder must be able to demonstrate excellent organisational, interpersonal and communication skills; be able to work well under pressure and on their own initiative. We require an individual with administrative experience, competent IT skills and strong attention to detail.

We encourage applicants to arrange a visit to our service prior to an interview.
