Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for 3 new joint substantive Consultant Neurologist posts to work with the existing teams in the Neurology Department at Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust and Calderdale & Huddersfield Foundation Trust, delivering a general neurology service in both Trusts.

We are seeking candidates with skills in diagnosing and managing various general neurology conditions and to work alongside the current Neurology teams. Clinics will be delivered at the Leeds General Infirmary and Calderdale & Huddersfield NHS Trusts.

In addition, the successful candidate will be part of the neurology on call at the Leeds Teaching Hospitals LGI site for weekends and evenings.

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant should possess MRCP (or equivalent) and should be included on the Specialist Register or within 6 months of CCT at the time of interview, if currently within a training programme within the UK. In accordance with the consultant appointment regulations, all other categories of doctors must be on the Specialist Register.

Applicants should have established skills in Neurology and its related specialties. A strong commitment to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and a research interest is desirable.

Consideration will be given to applicants who wish to work full or part time and those wishing to job share.

These 3 neurology consultant posts are developed as a joint post held jointly between Calderdale and Huddersfield foundation trust ( CHFT) and Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust (LTHT). The post holder will be expected to actively engage with other consultant colleagues in the development of future service models to meet the changing needs of patients using the neurology services at CHFT and LTHT. Applications are encouraged from experienced consultants wishing to take up a new challenge or newly accredited consultants who will be supported through our highly regarded development programmes. The post holder is encouraged to develop his/her own sub-specialty interest. We are keen to expand our Neuromuscular, Epilepsy, Movement disorders and Headache service in the region.
