Job summary
Required to fill this post within the Ophthalmology
Department at St Jamess University Hospital.
The
primary objectives of this post are to support and develop local capacity
within the medical retina service.
In
addition the post holder will contribute to the overall function of the
ophthalmology department by supporting all colleagues and points of service
delivery as required. As part of this, the consultant will provide clinical
leadership and drive service improvement, efficiency and innovation in their
area of specialism.
The
post holder will be expected to engage fully in all aspects of clinical audit,
clinical governance and patient experience pertaining to their area of
specialism.

Main duties of the job
The successful applicant should possess
FRCOphth (or equivalent) and should be included on the Specialist Register or
within 6 months of CCT at the time of interview, if currently within a training
programme within the UK or have attained CESR.
In accordance with the consultant appointment
regulations, all other categories of doctors must be on the Specialist
Register.
Applicants should
have established skills in Ophthalmology
and Medical Retina services. A strong commitment to undergraduate and
postgraduate teaching and a research interest is desirable.
Consideration
will be given to applicants who wish to work full or part time and those
wishing to job share.

- *Entry on the GMC Specialist Register via:
