Job summary
This is an appointment for two replacement, 10PA posts which will be
available from February 2026.
Our SDEC unit is co-located at SJUH with our Emergency Department (ED),
maximising review by the right person in the right place first time, improving
patient and staff satisfaction and enabling admission avoidance. This is an
exciting time to join our expanding team as we embed innovative ways of working
to shape the future model of acute medicine in Leeds. We are looking for
enthusiastic, motivated and committed individuals to join our team of Acute
Medicine consultants and work within the Urgent Care CSU to drive forward our
Acute Medicine & SDEC services.
We have two Acute Medical Units with a total of 57 beds and a
co-located 3 bedded Enhanced Care Area, called HOBS (High Observation Area). We
have a strong commitment to the delivery of same day emergency care which
operates a 7-day service and sees approximately 200 patients per week, as well
as delivering an excellent and established ambulatory VTE service.
Applicants should possess a wide experience in Acute and General
Medicine and have excellent team-working skills.

Main duties of the job
The
successful applicants should possess MB BS (or equivalent) and should be included
on the Specialist Register or within 6 months of CCT at the time of interview,
if currently within a training programme within the UK. In accordance with the consultant appointment
regulations, all other categories of doctors must be on the Specialist
Register.
Applicants should have
established skills in Acute Medicine and its related specialties including Same Day Emergency Care. A strong
commitment to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and a research interest
is desirable.
Consideration will be given to applicants
who wish to work full or part time and those wishing to job share.
