Required
to fill this full-time replacement post within the Orthopaedic Department at Chapel
Allerton Hospital with
special interest in foot and ankle. This post will support the Foot and ankle
team (Mr Adam Lomax, Mr Ray Monkhouse and Mr Paul Dearden). There will be
opportunities to contribute to the trauma on call rota.
The
successful applicant should possess MB BS (or equivalent) and should be
included on the Specialist Register or within 6 months of CCT at the time of
interview, if currently within a training programme within the UK. In accordance with the consultant appointment
regulations, all other categories of doctors must be on the Specialist
Register.

Main duties of the job
Applicants should have
established skills in Trauma and Orthopaedics and its related specialties
including Foot and Ankle surgery. A
strong commitment to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and a research
interest is desirable.
Consideration will be given to applicants
who wish to work full or part time and those wishing to job share.

- Should have completed a Fellowship in Foot and Ankle surgery.
- Evidence of the ability to carry out medical research as shown by published research in a peer reviewed medical journal.
- Evidence of the ability to present the findings of their research at a relevant scientific meeting.
- Experience in training undergraduate medical students and postgraduate doctors.
- Experience of participation in regular clinical audit.
Desirable
- Significant independent experience in Foot and Ankle.
- Previous experience of supervising research by junior staff.
- Previous attendance on Appraisal Techniques and Small Group Teaching Workshops.
- Training the Trainers or ATLS Instructor courses.
