This
is an opportunity to join a dynamic and ambitious team with a shared vision of
improving standards of Oral Medicine care.
This newly established 10 PA post reflects the need to develop and
enhance secondary and tertiary Oral Medicine services in Leeds and surrounding
areas. The post is offered in
partnership with the School of Dentistry reflecting the key role of education
in workforce professional development for students and registrants.

Main duties of the job
The
successful applicant must hold full
registration with the General Dental Council (GDC) and be on the Specialist
list for Oral Medicine or
within 6 months of CCST at the time of interview, if currently within a
training programme within the UK. In
accordance with the consultant appointment regulations, all other categories of
doctors must be on the GDC Specialist List at the point of taking up the post.
A commitment to teaching and training the workforce
is essential. The role will include opportunities to work within a team to
develop quality improvement and leadership skills.
Consideration will be given to applicants
who wish to work full or part time and those wishing to job share.

In relation to this post,
this is a new full-time 10 sessions per week post created to join the team and
work within an exciting and dynamic environment. The role will primarily be based at the Leeds
Dental Institute (LDI) with flexibility required to deliver care at other LTHT
sites including Wharfedale Hospital in Otley.
There will be an emphasis on service, education and leadership
development through multi-disciplinary working as the MCN approach in Yorkshire
& the Humber develops. The appointee
will be encouraged to develop an area of specialist practice over time.

Deliver a consultant-led Oral Medicine clinical service
across the breadth of specialist practice as part of an integrated team of Oral
Medicine specialists.
Have an important role in education and workforce
development informed by insight from the regional MCN and more widely.
Have a commitment to personal development aligned with
the priorities of the Oral Medicine team.

The Clinical Director
and their team report operationally to the Chief Operating Officer (COO). The
Clinical Director will work closely with the Chief Operating Officers team
which includes two Medical Directors for Operations, Nurse Directors for
Operations, Deputy Chief Operating Officer, Assistant Directors of Operations
(ADOs) and a Performance Team, with each ADO aligned to specific CSUs.

Qualifications
Essential
- BDS, BChD or equivalent (registrable dental degree).
- Fellowship in Dental Surgery or Membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgery, or equivalent
- Intercollegiate Specialty Fellowship Exit Examination in Oral Medicine or equivalent before commencing the post
- Full registration with the United Kingdom General Dental Council (GDC) (or eligible for full registration before starting the post)
- Eligibility to work in the UK
- On the GDC Specialist List in Oral Medicine (or within 6 months of eligibility for inclusion from date of interview)
- Is up to date and fit to practise safely.
