care for children and young people
The
paediatric Rheumatology service at the Leeds Childrens Hospital is a
tertiary referral centre for Yorkshire, providing a multidisciplinary
management approach to children presenting with a wide range of inflammatory
conditions. As a Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist, the post holder will
work in paediatric out-patient clinics, using advanced clinical skills and
expertise to carry out assessment of patients referred to the Paediatric
Rheumatology service. This will include patients referred with Inflammatory
Conditions, Back Pain, Hypermobility and persistent pain syndromes
The
post holder will be expected to refer for appropriate imaging and testing, to
facilitate diagnosis and enable treatment planning, seeking guidance from
medical colleagues where appropriate. Appropriate levels of support will be
provided by a member of the paediatric Rheumatology team, and the post holder
will work closely with members of the nursing, clerical and administrative
team to ensure delivery of a high quality service to patients and their
families

job holder may be involved in research projects and will be expected to carry
out audits of their practice, and of the service

Main duties of the job
The
post holder will be expected to carry out advanced assessment of children

holder will provide training, support, supervision and clinical expertise to
qualified and unqualified staff and students.
Successful
candidates will have highly specialised skills in paediatric rheumatology
physiotherapy, and advanced knowledge and experience of a wide variety of
paediatric orthopaedic conditions. They will have a high level of knowledge
of other conditions affecting children and young adults, including
inflammatory conditions, back pain, chronic pain.

childrens physiotherapy team is a team of approximately 40 physiotherapists
and physiotherapy assistants who work across Leeds Childrens Hospital. They
have a wide scope of experience and enjoy developing and teaching new members
of the team.
