Main duties of the job

You will provide specialised dietetic care to children and young people with diabetes and their families and carers at a local and regional level. This will include our in-patient and out-patient services and our programme of education. You will deliver clinical training for dietetic learners and other staff. You will have opportunities to collaborate around service improvements, for example audit, resource development, guidelines work and advances in technology and digital solutions. You will support the day-to-day running of the dietetic team.

We hold consultant led clinics every day and nurse led appointments. An on-going programme of education is offered throughout the year, including one-to-one dietetic and psychology appointments, pump showcases and school workshop sessions.

Where possible, we aim to prevent hospital admissions by supporting children, young people and families at home. We believe that our family-centred approach helps children, young people and families living with diabetes feel supported and empowered to optimally manage their health while also maintaining a good quality of life.

You will be based at St James University Hospital within the Childrens Diabetes MDT. You will also work at the Leeds General Infirmary for inpatient work, and to collaborate with the rest of the childrens dietetic team as needed.

Experience of working in childrens dietetics and/or diabetes is desirable for this post.
