An
exciting opportunity has become available to join the Band 6 team on L51
which is the paediatric cardiology/cardiac surgery ward at Leeds Childrens
Hospital. L51 is a 16 bedded ward consisting of 10 ward beds and a 6 HDU beds
caring for both cardiology and cardiac surgical patients.
We
are looking for a motivated, enthusiastic and dynamic individual who can
ensure the consistent delivery of high-quality patient centred care to the
patients nursed within paediatric cardiology. The successful candidate will
be expected to work clinically within the multi-disciplinary team, maintain
high standards of evidence-based practice while supporting staff on a
shift-by-shift basis and provide clinical leadership in decision making.
The
successful candidate will have excellent communication and organisational
skills. They must work with The Leeds Way and Trust values at the centre of
their care, for both patients and colleagues. They must be able to
demonstrate current and on-going personal development and evidence of their
contribution to change management/service development within their current
post.
A
good understanding of current issues in healthcare both locally and
nationally, involvement in improving patient safety, risk and waste reduction
and the development of others and general support for peers, junior and
senior colleagues are expected.

Main duties of the job
The
job holder will be responsible for being in charge of the ward on a
shift-by-shift basis alongside supporting and delivering excellent care to
patients and their families. The successful candidate will be expected to
work with the multi-disciplinary team and will contribute to data collection
and audit.
The
successful candidate will be self-motivated, able to work autonomously and
have excellent communication and organisational skills. They must work with
The Leeds Way and Trust values at the centre of their care, for both patients
and colleagues. They must be able to demonstrate current and on-going
personal development and evidence of their contribution to change
management/service development within their current post.
Effective
service delivery requires staff to be flexible and be able to work full
rotating shift patterns. Candidates should have current NMC registration and
extensive experience as a Band 5 within paediatric cardiology would be
