Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated Registered Nurse with the experience and knowledge in Cardiac care to deliver training and education on L51 the Childrens Cardiology ward. The role is 28.75hrs a week to include 23 hours in education and 5.75 hours clinically (to be worked as 2 LDs a month in a band 6 role.)

The experienced applicant will support the education and training delivery for L51 and critical care. The applicant is required to provide evidence of leadership in a clinical setting and possess excellent organisational skills, communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with all teams throughout Leeds Childrens Hospital.

Knowledge of national standards, policies and the ways in which these will influence nursing education in the future must be demonstrated. Evidence of working independently to plan, prepare and deliver training and education is essential. An accredited critical care L1/L2 qualification is essential for the role. The applicant must hold a practice assessor qualification and a recognised leadership qualification.

Main duties of the job

The role will involve delivering education in accordance with clinical standards, assisting in the planning, delivery and assessment of accredited Critical Care courses, managing risk in-line with Leeds Teaching Hospitals operational targets to meet regulatory compliance through training and education. The applicant(s) will demonstrate the ability to create and sustain an innovative culture of education and learning in clinical practice. The successful candidate will work within the established Paediatric Critical Care Education team with a focus on L51 the cardiology ward and Cardiology HDU.

The Jobholder will play an essential role supporting Nursing and Midwifery (including ODP) education by facilitating education, training and practice development within Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.

The job holder will facilitate the development of clinical staff both registered and unregistered.

The job holder will support the assessment of the quality of clinical and other practice learning environments, and implement interventions for improvement. The job holder will support mentors / assessors and clinical professional development for preceptorship.
