Job summary
An
exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and experienced registered
nurse (child) to join the Paediatric Stem Cell Transplant team at Leeds
General Infirmary as a Clinical Nurse Specialist on a 1-year fixed term
contract/Secondment.
The
post will involve working on the in-patient transplant unit and outpatients,
supporting the child and family throughout the allogeneic stem cell
transplant pathway, providing expert clinical care, coordination and
education. The role includes managing a caseload, providing expert care and
support to the patients and families through the transplant process,
supporting the development of education for staff and families, contributing
to audit, quality improvement, service
development and delivery of key performance indicators. The role will involve
multidisciplinary collaboration and excellent communication skills.
This
is a dynamic role within a highly specialised service, ideal for a nurse with
specialist clinical knowledge and skills, excellent communication,
organisational and leadership skills, and a passion for delivering
high-quality, patient-centred care. Some experience of implementing changes
within services would be beneficial.

Main duties of the job
The
Jobholder is responsible for the management of a defined caseload. The
jobholder carries continuing responsibility for the assessment of care needs,
the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care and the
setting of standards of care.
The
jobholder will provide specialist nursing care, treatment and advice to a
specific patient group and will contribute to the development of the
speciality service. The jobholder will ensure cost effective use of
resources.
The
job holder will support the development of interdisciplinary and whole
service working. As a role model they
will promote the sharing of good practice and delivery of high quality,
effective and efficient care. The job holder will provide training and
education to staff groups, patients and families/carers.
