An
exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and motivated nurse to
join our Paediatric Renal team as a Band 6 Clinical Nurse Specialist covering
the Peritoneal Dialysis service on a fixed term contract for 6 months.
The
renal service is one of 12 centres in the UK caring for patients with acute
and chronic kidney disease, requiring renal replacement therapies including
Haemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis. We are seeking a motivated
compassionate leader to support and inspire a multidisciplinary team, drive
clinical excellence, and uphold the highest standards of care within the
renal service particularly with peritoneal dialysis.

Main duties of the job
The
jobholder will play an essential role working alongside the current renal
clinical nurse specialist for Peritoneal Dialysis, taking responsibility for
the effective and efficient management of patients within the region,
covering the outpatients department and the ward. They will contribute to
the provision of professional, clinical, managerial leadership. The jobholder
is responsible for helping to develop and maintain the renal services
philosophy that has the patient at the centre of compassionate safe and
quality care delivery. By assisting with managing the administrative and
financial aspects of the service, the jobholder will support the
cost-effective use of resources.
As
an experienced nurse the jobholder will assist in co-ordinating activities
with renal services ensuring effective communication is always maintained,
providing support to qualified and unqualified nurses within the ward/dept
and to patients and their families requiring Peritoneal Dialysis in the
community. He/she will play a key role in the assessment of patient care
needs and the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of
care.
The
post holder will play a key role in supporting training and assessment of
Peritoneal Dialysis care and skills of patients and their family and the
registered nursing workforce on the ward.

Nurse with the 24-hour continuing responsibility for the effective and
efficient management of the dialysis department. They will contribute to the provision of
professional, clinical, managerial leadership and supervision for the nursing
team. The jobholder is responsible for
helping to develop the departments philosophy that has the patient at the centre
of compassionate safe and quality care delivery. By assisting with managing the
administrative and financial aspects of the ward, the jobholder will support
the cost-effective use of resources.
