Job summary
We are looking to recruit to our 0.4 wte B8a Senior Clinical Psychology post within the Paediatric Psychology team. This permanent post is funded by our charity partner, Fight Against Blindness (FAB) and sits within the Paediatric Long-term conditions team and supports the work of the Paediatric Ophthalmology service at St Jamess Hospital.
The post can be flexible to suit a candidates preference, however, attendance at low vision clinic on Mondays is an advantage. You will have the opportunity to be co-located for your clinical work with the medical MDT at their clinic location at St Jamess Hospital. Your job plan will offer a wide range of clinical experiences, including face to face clinical work, MDT working and preparation for theatre and procedures. You will join a well-established, national, peer network with ample opportunities for networking, service development work and contributing to national guidelines. As a FAB-funded Psychologist, you will also have the opportunity for significant systemic working with our community partners, such as the Qualified Teachers for Children and Young People with Visual Impairment (QTVI).
We fully adhere to the BPS position on CPD and have a strong track record of providing excellent training opportunities and clinical supervision in a wide range of therapy modalities

Main duties of the job
To provide a qualified Clinical Psychology service to children and young people and their families in Leeds and across all sites and sectors of care by:
a) Providing highly specialist psychological assessment and therapy,
b) Offering advice and consultation on patients psychological and neuropsychological care to non-psychologist colleagues and to other non-professional carers,
c) Using research skills for audit, policy and service development and leading on research projects within the area served by the team/service
d) Working autonomously in the execution of these duties and within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the Psychology Teams, Department and Trust policies and procedures.
About us
You will be joining The Department of Paediatric Psychology (DPP), with over 30 clinicians, organised in three sectors of care: Long Term Conditions, Surgery & Oncology, Cardiology & Critical Care as well as a Staff Support team. This particular post sits in the Long-Term Conditions Team, and you will be supporting children, young people and their families who live with visual impairments.
The Department is academically ambitious with good links to the expanding DClinPsych Programme and Schools of Medicine and Psychology at the University of Leeds.
