Job summary
We
are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and dynamic childrens nurse to lead
our asthma nurse specialist team. This is a permanent Band 7 role with an
opportunity for clinical autonomy and the chance to develop the existing
service in accordance with the latest national guidelines.
Our
asthma service offers both secondary and tertiary level care to children
across Yorkshire. Although we are a small team our previous project work has
been recognised at a Regional and National level.
Can
you lead to team to the next era of asthma care, helping to support and help
improve the lives of children and young people with asthma across our region.
Main duties of the job
The
role as an asthma nurse specialist team leader involves leading the team to
deliver a high standard of care, to patients on the ward who are acutely
unwell as well as coordinating their ongoing care in both primary and
secondary care in outpatient clinics. Implementing national standardised
practice to ensure these patients, receive the patient centred care they
require both in a hospital and community setting.
Our
asthma service offers both secondary and tertiary level care to children
across our region. Our children and young people are reviewed in the
respiratory day unit. Our multiple disciplinary team, review a variety of
patients and families, working to assess, treat and support infants with
severe viral induced wheeze too children and young people with severe asthma
requiring biologic therapy.
It
is a very exciting time in the world of paediatric asthma, with recent
developments in treatment pathways and new licensed medications. The post
holder will be aware of the national standards set by the National Asthma
Bundle and formulate a clear plan to implement these in practice, engaging
with the MDT to achieve these plans. This position offers the opportunity to
