Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Leeds Childrens Hospital acute patient flow co-ordinator team.

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to take responsibility and actively manage patient flows across the Childrens hospital by implementing and maintaining processes that safely expedite patient placement and discharge.

The jobholder is responsible for the timely and appropriate placement of patients requiring admission to the bed base and for the escalation procedure from the Emergency Department and the CAT unit whilst working closely with the matron and service manager teams to admit elective patients.

The role will give you an insight into the wider organization and the issues and drivers which shape current paediatric services. You will develop advanced skills in identifying risks and solving complex issues and gain valuable experience in balancing staff availability and skills against the needs of patients across the service.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will facilitate patient flow within the Childrens hospital. In addition, they will support the clinical nursing teams in their day to day working. They will work closely with all areas of the Childrens hospital, the discharge team, paediatric A&E and the CAT unit to ensure patients are admitted in a timely manner.

In addition, they will report into the wider trust working closely with the CSM team whilst also supporting the Childrens hospital with some allocated non-clinical time to look at quality improvement and waste reduction projects.
