Lead
Nurse for Specialist Childrens Services

an opportunity has arisen for the development of a new Lead Nurse role for
Childrens Clinical Specialties. You
will be a key member of the senior nursing leadership team at the Leeds
Childrens Hospital and hold responsibility for the nursing leadership and
management of a core group of Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) teams. You will
have a key focus on the delivery of Core 20 plus 5 for Children and Young
People across the Childrens Hospital and lead on this programme of
work.
We
are in search of a highly motivated individual with a proven track record of
progressive and transformational leadership with a specialist interest in
health inequalities. You will be able to manage complex clinical teams and
services whilst supporting our staff
and fostering a culture of quality care to enhance outcomes, reduce health
inequalities and elevate the experience of children, young people and
families in our care.
You
will need excellent interpersonal skills, communication and organisational
skills and a commitment to providing visible clinical leadership across the
Childrens Hospital.

Main duties of the job
We
are looking for a compassionate, innovative, and forward-thinking nurse
leader. You will have a proven track record of successfully managing and
leading nursing teams across a range of services and for delivering high
standards of quality care. Your commitment to providing the best possible
experience for children, young people and their families who access our
services will be at the core of all that you do, contributing to our mission
to improve the health and well-being of those that we serve.
You
will act as a source of expertise, advice and knowledge for patients, carers
and healthcare professionals and provide expert clinical nursing advice,
education and leadership within the specialty.
You
will be professionally and operationally accountable to the Head of Nursing
and work with them in the delivery of speciality nursing services for the
Leeds Childrens Hospital.
You
will line manage a portfolio of Clinical Nurse Specialist team leaders,
including their recruitment, performance, job planning and future workforce
planning.
You
will work in partnership with professionals from across the Trust and
external partner agencies eg Primary Care, third sector agencies and the West
Yorkshire Integrated Care Board (ICB) in the development of specialist
services both locally, regionally and nationally.

The Leeds Childrens Hospital is one the UKs
largest specialist childrens hospitals that provides acute tertiary services
for children and young people across the Yorkshire and Humber region. We host
27 medical and surgical specialties across our 16 inpatient wards in addition
to our Paediatric Critical Care Service, Childrens Medical and Surgical Day
Case Unit, Childrens Assessment Unit and Childrens Outpatient Department. We
are a specialist regional centre for liver and renal transplantation, complex
childrens cancer treatment, neurosurgery, and congenital cardiac surgery.

As
an expert, senior nurse the post holder will deliver high quality patient
care, acting as a role model for nursing practice across the Trust and
specialty.
The
post holder will act as a source of expertise, advice and knowledge for
patients, carers and healthcare professionals and provide expert clinical
nursing advice, education and leadership within the specialty.
The

nursing services, ensuring robust education and strong clinical leadership.
The post holder will have accountability for on-going monitoring/audit and
development of the services.
The
post holder will lead the development and growth of specialty nursing
services and be responsible for the development and implementation of the
Leeds Childrens Hospital Health Inequalities strategy.
The
post holder will contribute to the growth in
nursing research activity across specialty nursing teams embedding
clinical research in to every day nursing practice.
