Matron
(Band 8a) - Paediatric Specialities: Neuro, Liver, Renal and Respiratory

an opportunity has arisen for the development of a new Speciality Matron post
that will cover L38 Respiratory, L50 Liver/Renal and L52 Neuro. You will be a key member of the senior
nursing leadership team at the Leeds Childrens Hospital and hold
responsibility for the nursing leadership and management of the ward areas
and specialities in this new configuration.
We
are in search of a highly motivated individual with a proven track record of
progressive and transformational leadership. You will be able to manage
complex operational demands whilst supporting our staff and fostering a
culture of quality care to enhance outcomes and elevate the experience of
children, young people and families in our care.
You
will need excellent interpersonal skills, communication and organisational
skills and a commitment to providing visible clinical leadership across the
Childrens Hospital.

Main duties of the job
We

leader. You will have a proven track record of successfully managing and
leading nursing teams across a range of services and for delivering high

You
will work in partnership with the Deputy and
Head of Nursing to lead the implementation of the Nursing and
Midwifery Strategy across the Childrens Hospital with an ambition to deliver
new and innovative ways of working. You will need to utilise your expert
operational and clinical knowledge to ensure effective delivery of nursing
services and champion patient centred care ensuring safety, quality and
patient experience are embedded in everything that we do.

The Leeds Childrens Hospital is
one the UKs largest specialist childrens hospitals that provides acute
tertiary services for children and young people across the Yorkshire and
Humber region. We host 27 medical and surgical specialties across our 16
inpatient wards in addition to our Paediatric Critical Care Service,
Childrens Medical and Surgical Day Case Unit, Childrens Assessment Unit and
Childrens Outpatient Department. We are a specialist regional centre for
liver and renal transplantation, complex childrens cancer treatment,
neurosurgery, and congenital cardiac surgery.

Job responsibilities
The
jobholder will have overall responsibility for the management of
nursing/associated staff and the management of nursing
resources/budgets. The jobholder will
be accountable for ensuring the highest standard of clinical care is provided
within the wards and departments for which they are responsible and ensure
the principles of clinical governance are implemented at a local level. The jobholder will work in partnership with
the facilities department in ensuring high standards of hospital cleanliness
is maintained, embracing the principles outlined in the Matrons charter.
The
jobholder will be easily identifiable to patients, provide strong leadership
through a visible presence and provide support, advice and assistance
required by patients, their families and carers. The jobholder will also
support the implementation of the Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS),
being a focal point for advice to patients and carers and local resolution of
complaints. The post holder will work alongside the Triumvirate Management
Team to ensure the provision of a specialist care against national standards,
quality measures, and access & performance targets for the families of
Leeds and the wider Yorkshire Region.
