Are you an enthusiastic, recently or soon to be qualified, motivated Dietitian with a keen interest in paediatrics? Do you want to start your career supporting children and families? We are looking for a Dietitian to join our Paediatric Dietetic Department team to take up this exciting post.

This post will contribute to the dietetic services within the childrens diabetes service and the general paediatric service, working in multidisciplinary teams working closely with other health professionals. You will work with both in and outpatients, have opportunities for ward staff education, continuous learning and career development.

Main duties of the job

The dual focuses of this job are paediatric diabetes and general paediatrics, in a full time role, with designated days for each area. It is across 2 separate sites. You will provide nutrition and dietetic care to infants, children and young people, primarily as outpatient work, but also some inpatient work. General paediatrics includes simple allergies, faltering growth, nutrient deficiencies, simple nutritional support. Diabetes care will be to patients with both T1 and T2 diabetes. There will be support and supervision from other dietitians as this is a role for someone recently qualified in dietetics. The post holder will also have opportunities for teaching and education of healthcare staff, parents and other carers.

Excellent communication skills and an understanding and strong commitment to multi-disciplinary team working are essential.

About us

We are currently 28 full and part time Childrens Dietitians, providing a wide range of secondary and tertiary care, and supra-regional services based at the Leeds Childrens Hospital. We are part of the wider Nutrition and Dietetic Service in Leeds Teaching Hospitals. You will contribute to provide appropriate cover for colleagues within the multi-speciality Childrens dietetic team at times of annual leave or sickness. We will support you with appropriate training opportunities to facilitate this. You will be involved in student training, contributing to the provision of training programmes for A placement learners. Our team has excellent support from four dietetic assistants and the admin team. You will have access to IT and library facilities.

The Children and Young Peoples Diabetes Team is a large multiprofessional team with a national reputation for excellence. You will be an integral part of this team.
