An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, Childrens Nurse with experience in Epilepsy to join our team in the Childrens Epilepsy Nursing service.
You will be working with our dedicated paediatricians to support children and families from Leeds who are in our secondary epilepsy service. You will be a key person supporting care for children and young people with epilepsy from the point of diagnosis through the trajectory of their condition.
The role is very diverse and requires someone who is adaptable to a number of different fields of work including, teaching and training, clinic reviews, home / school visits, telephone advice / support and liaison with the wider MDT. We require a specialist nurse to have knowledge and skills in leadership and empowerment to be able to teach and support children, parents and the nursing team.
It is essential that the applicant has experience caring for children with epilepsy, is able to work autonomously as well as part of the MDT and is passionate about improving the lives of children with epilepsy.
Excellent organisational and communication skills are key elements for this position together with a genuine compassion and commitment to care for children who have epilepsy and their families.
Main duties of the job
The role involves caring for children and families and supporting them through their time in the secondary epilepsy service. The post holder will provide nursing expertise, undertaking assessment and provide education, information and support to patients and their parents, to other health professionals and schools. Liaising with the MDT both in the hospital and the community. The post holder will be involved in, clinical audit and service development.
About us
The post holder will work closely with both Childrens Neurology Consultants, Secondary Epilepsy Paediatricians, Neurosurgeons and Community paediatricians to provide responsive and supportive services for children who are in the secondary epilepsy service
Support will be provided by the team leader, which includes preceptorship period, regular 1:1 meetings, team meetings, and appraisal for the upcoming year.
