An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 nurse to join our team of Childrens Immunology/HIV Nurse Specialists in order cover maternity leave for a period of one year commencing April 2025. The role, which will be based within The Leeds Childrens Hospital, is part of a wider regional service.
The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting consultant-led immunology clinics. They will also have the opportunity to manage established nurse led clinics within HIV relating to baby screening and child testing. The post holder will provide specialist care and training, will hold responsibility for the management of a defined caseload and will have an integral role in service development.

Main duties of the job
The jobholder will work within a small team of Nurse Specialists responsible to the Childrens HIV Team Leader.
Responsibilities will include the management of a shared caseload within immunology. (primarily outpatients). This will include children with primary and secondary immunodeficiencies. Managing and attending clinics and inpatient wards as required, telephone support, ordering blood tests and managing results, updating information literature, written referrals to regional Childrens Community Nursing Teams, liaising with MDT and other professionals, developing the transition service within Immunology,training,co-ordination and support for oral medications and sub cutaneous immunoglobin injections both within the hospital and home.
There will also be the opportunity to manage baby screening nurse led clinics.
You will be expected to work in partnership with the team leader, Consultant and other MDT members to implement evidence-based, patient focused practice.
The Childrens Immunology/HIV Teams aim is to provide guidance for care that recognises and understands young patients bio-psychosocial needs and helps prepare them to become independent advocates for their own healthcare. The job holder will work in partnership with children and young people and their families to share expert knowledge,care and support.
There will be opportunity for further development,including visits to other specialist centres.
A driving licence is desirable.
