Job summary
We
are looking to recruit a senior medical secretary to support two of our
paediatric neurology consultants & provide comprehensive administration
support.
The
successful candidate will be joining a large and dynamic team within the
Leeds Childrens Hospital and will have lots of exposure to opportunities,
roles and projects in a very passionate team and CSU.
Candidates
should be able to demonstrate a good command of the English language and
grammar. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential as
the post holder will be expected to be able to communicate effectively and
sensitively with a wide range of people including parents of patients,
colleagues and external agencies in both written and verbal form. Good
organisational and time management skills are essential for this role. The
ability to work as part of a team as well as well as being able to manage own
workload is also essential.
Main duties of the job
The
post holder will be expected to:
Assist
with the organisation and booking of specialist clinics which will involve
liaising with patients and other members of the MDT including Registrars,
CNSs, dieticians, paediatricians etc.
Attend
and minute regular meetings, collecting the correct imaging and preparing and
distributing the patient lists prior to meetings
Distribute
rotas to relevant teams and departments
Updating
databases regarding regular prescriptions. This also requires close
communication with GPs and pharmacy
Typing
clinic letters and other clinical correspondence
Other
admin duties such as dealing with telephone queries, scanning correspondence
to electronic patient records, organising post
Work
closely with other members of the secretarial and admin team

- Minimum of two years' experience working within the NHS or a health care environment in the same or similar role
- Secretarial or audio typing experience
Desirable
- Understanding or knowledge of processes, terminology and treatment within Neurology.
- Coordinating and managing own workload

- Diary management
